End of Year Letter and Dates
Dear Parents/Guardians:
When we walked out of the doors Thursday, March 12 for a long weekend, who would have ever thought that we would not be returning for the remainder of the year? I certainly did not! I hope that you all have fared well during this time of quarantine and are safe and healthy. Remember that the district continues to provide meals at CHS and Joanna-Woodson Elementary, as well as specified bus routes, every Monday and Wednesday. If you haven’t taken advantage of these free meals, I encourage you to do so.
Our students are the light of our lives and we miss them dearly. May is the most fun month of the year and that makes it even more difficult to not have them here. The entire staff and I want you to know that your child(ren) has touched our hearts in so many special ways. We also miss you!
In terms of what the remainder of the year will look like, please look carefully at the information below:
· May 18-20: Graduation Pictures- Please stop by the school between 9:00 and 2:00 to have your child’s picture taken in a cap and gown. We will print these for no charge and have them ready for you to pick up June 1.
· May 20: Last packet return.
· June 1, 9:00-6:00: Collect personal items from Bailey and receive a graduation picture and yearbooks.
· June 4, 9:00-3:00: Make up day to pick up personal items from Bailey.
Your student’s permanent record will be transferred to Eastside, Clinton Elementary, or Joanna-Woodson based on your zoning. If you are requesting a different district school, please let us know so that we send records to the correct school. If your child is going to a school not in our district, please have that school request records from us.
As we wrap up the year, I encourage you to continue reading with your child and talking to your child. The most effective way for students to develop language and learn new words is through conversation. Put tablets, Ipads, etc. away for a little while each day and just talk and play.
We look forward to seeing you all a few more times before the year closes out.
Sincerely,
Carol Anne Barnes
